Manhattan Skyline

See the trick is...

to bring your soul just a little closer to mine
and we can show em just how poetry in motion's defined now.
is there any other place you suggest we be?
just hold my hand and we can fall in less than 3.....2....1
while im dippin in a daze serendipity's affinity is imminent
innocent as dreams unraveled..feeling as pristine as the ceiling of the sistine chapel.
you're my.. my main course.. appetizer and "hors de orderv"
pay no mind to those with no nerve..
trying to "court" you.. with us its Love-40
and Beauty is in the eye of he who holds serve..
I've dubbed thee..
my pharaoh..
the smoking barrell on which my trust is fulfilled..
with the lips of lust.. that clutch the kiss..
that always break me down..

but leaves me with enough to build.

my verse off my upcoming song "Manhattan Skyline"

Happy New Years everybody :]

Spizeech Fo My Mama Dukes

First and foremost I would like to thank everybody for making it here. This past year has been one for the books. We have had a mixture of good times and bad times. We have faced hardships that may have shaken the ground we have walked upon. But the fact that we are still standing together, is evidence that we are all strong enough to keep on fighting the fight. Today marks a day in which we celebrate not only the spirit of Christmas, but the spirit of life. At this point in time, we may not have all the diamonds, jewels and material possessions that we wish to obtain, but it is within these times that we find the truest gifts that we could ever ask for. I have realized that although I may not be a millionaire, I have my family, my friends, and my good health. For it is with these priceless treasures, that we stay rich, maybe not within our wallets, but within our souls. We spend today under the heavens and let us are reminded that the best things in life truly are free. I would like to welcome everybody into my home and I hope that you enjoy the time we spend together and that when it is time to say goodbye, you leave with love and faith within your hearts, and great food within your bellies. I would like to thank you again for making the trip here. I cherish everybody’s presence and I would like to dedicate this night, to our yesterdays, yesteryears, and to the tomorrows that we have ahead of us to paint with the vibrant colors of life’s paintbrush on destiny’s canvas. Merry Christmas, Happy New Years, and let us celebrate love, life and happiness. Thank you Lord for all the blessings you have shared with all of us. Amen

Space Jams 12.23.09

man man man... the release was just incredibly crazy. Even though it was dubbed a "General Release"... the event that took place at the palisades mall made it seem as if it was a Quickstrike/Limited release kind of thing. I was just amazed that people started lining up at around 12 PM Noon. I laughed at the idea that people were camping out. I knew it was the "Space Jams" but I also knew this was a General Release (sidenote: this means there is a mass production run of the product and that it should be readily available for everybody) and that is why I did not stress out camping out so early.

I had went to the mall around 4-ish with my brother and my sister in order to do some last minute shopping and we had passed by Footlocker, and there was 20 people there. Once again, I was told that there would be 100+ pairs available for sale and I did not really think I would need to camp out so early for them. I stopped by both champs and finishline and noticed there were no lines there what so ever. This again only added to my logic of not having to camp out.

By the time I got home, I was plotting my mission. I was going to go at 10 just to be safe, then wait and walk out with a pair of 'Jams. I left my room and switched from my OG Colorway White Reebok "The Pump" Retro's to my beat up (..really beat up) pair of Grape 5's since I figured I might as well keep it in theme. Yellow Soles for Icey Soles lol.

Once i got to the mall I had seen that there was a line bending around the corner for Footlocker and that they had already given out tickets for those who were early and they were going to sell the pairs by that system. I had passed by and saw my boys E Dot Fresco and John M Thirteen (their new mixtape should be out soon and I can only assume it's gonna be dope) and I thought they were in line for the Space Jams as well. I decided to go check the scene out at Champs since there was nobody camping there the last time.

I had arrived there and saw about 10 people lined up and I had no worries what so ever. I then was spotted by my family friend Dino. (Sup Tito Rick!) He had told me that there was a list already planned out by the store and that they were going to sell there 66 pairs by that system. At this point, I was assed out because I had forgotten to call or visit the store to put my name on the list. My boy Dino then told me that if I could get somebody to hold down his spot at Champs while he went to pick up his pairs at Footlocker, he could secure me my pair with no problem.

Well, the problem was I had nobody available at the time. The only person I had available was my brother but he was too exhausted from running around the whole day to do christmas shopping. I was there just chilling wondering what the hell I was going to do. At this point, I was last priority and I would need to hope that somebody either got incredibly wasted and forgot about the release or decided that they did not want the jams anymore.

During the time I was waiting, I was in the company of my boy Dino, his lil brother Brandon, Mike, E Dot & John M 13, Julius (sup man) and others. We did what usual sneakerheads did and discussed how the game is these days and what pairs we want to have in our possession in the future. Time was winding down and I was still unsure as to how I was going to secure my pairs.

By the time everybody started making an official line, I got a message that would lead to my night ending on a positive note. Dino told me that he would need me to stand in as an extra body and just for that, I would be able to get my pair.

I dont want to post all the details but let me just say this.

-I ended up with a size 9.5
-Dino got about dozens and dozens of pairs of Space Jams (I cannot deny this man's hustle..just amazing)
-The Champs release was unorganized and unruly as shit.
-So many people were fucking rude and held us up at the Cash Register with their complaints about people walking out with multiple pairs even though the other pairs were kid's sizes. (However, I would be complaining too if I was told that my name would be called on a list just to end up finding out that they might have just discarded that system overall)
-We walked up straight to the front of Footlocker about half an hour after it started it's release, got into the store and was able to pick up multiple pairs (once again, I am just amazed at this guy's hustle)
-Walked out of Footlocker, bags in hand with everybody wondering "WTF?!?!!??"

I just want to say Thank you so much Dino. If it wasn't for your generosity and looking out for me coz we're "fam", I would not have my pair. You are the man.

At the end of this all, it made me realize something that I will post up in my upcoming blog entry.

Outside of Popeyes Eating Chicken And Fries.... (well not literally)

UNDERSTAND.. I'M BACK BY POPULAR DEMANNNNNNDD :P

Hi. My Name Is Kennard Medina And..

I Have An Addiction.

For those who know me know me, they know I am definitely an addict for sneakers. Some people might not understand a reason behind it, but shoes in general hold a certain meaning for me. Throughout life, we go on journies we will never forget. A big aspect for me, concerning those journies is how I traveled through each millisecond being suspended in every little frame. I also am an avid fan of art, whether it be musical, sculpture, painting, the human body ( :P ) etc. Shoes are also sculptures in my eyes. Sculptures that we wear on our feet. For example, Michael Jordan is one of my idols and to this day, he still influences the way I live my life today. It is because of his performance on the court (e.g. "The Flu Game") that I make sure I leave it all out on whatever surface (classroom, bball court, life? rofl) and give it my all. So with this said, I dedicate this "Addiction" post to my latest pickups.

20th Anniversary Reebok "The Pump" OG Bringback (Black & White Colorways)

I dont have to say much about these shoes except that in my eyes, they are DOPE. Classic shoe, Hightop Retro feel (sidenote: it seems like the trend that is goin on these days is the return of the hightop shoe...). Not to mention, the creme de la creme, the Pump. Luckily I was able to scoop up these pairs (18/29 for the "White Colorway" & 5/29 for the "Black Colorway") from Packershoes (sup Mike!) and boy was I "pumped" to get these (yes..i have filled my quota for lame drops for today :] ) lol. I would love to get my hands on backup pairs so I can just murder these pairs. The quality is top notch also, (Nike & Jordan Brand should take some pointers from Reebok when it comes to retro-ing a shoe properly..). Btw, my journey to get the Black Colorway was reeal reeal interesting, but I shall save that for another post. Anyways, without further adieu, I present to you... THE PUMP

Pardon my creamy (yucky) colored wall and messy desk :]

"We The Best"

Thank You Professor Nardella for facilitating my growth and development as a nurse in the clinical setting. I wish you nothing but the best and hope that your future students are as cool as us and that they love, respect and appreciate you like we do :]

Its That Time Of Year Again....

It is 4:18 PM on the 11th of December in the year 2009. I am currently drinking soda out of a champagne glass while eating a turkey/swiss sandwich while watching Law & Order:SVU. At this very moment, I can't help but think about what has occurred the past couple of months.

I feel as if I've changed mentally, physically, and spiritually. I feel as if things are just starting to clear up. The world is now moving in slow motion and I can finally let out a breath that I have been holding in for a very long time.

I can't help but feel triumphant knowing how well I've done during this semester. My streak of 9's on the nursing exams and my growth and development in the clinical setting only provide evidence for my accomplishments. What makes it even more sweeter is that my close friends within the program (Kristine, Farele, Mark, Mary etc.) are doing well enough to know that next semester is within their grasp and that their holidays will be bright. I am so proud of not only myself, but them and the rest of my class. I can only hope that everybody murders the final to the point where everybody passes.

This is the first time I ever went out of my way to reach out to every single person in our class and I feel that it is what I should have been doing all along. I can only hope that everybody appreciates the work I have put into the act because I really do want to dedicate my time that I have to those who might not have it. I know its nearing around Christmas time, but I feel this shouldnt be constricted to only the holiday time. Med Surg is up next and I am going to try my best to make sure I kick ass ... along with my fellow students and close friends.

It has been a long time since i touched down with this blog and hopefully I will be able to do so on a more consistent basis.

What will make the end of 2009 perfect you might ask?

A Semester GPA of 3.5+
A Pair Of Air Jordan XI "Space Jams"
A Smile on the faces of those who love.

The World Is Yours... and like i said.
